At Controlled Burn Records, in addition to records and CDs, we also sell downloadable digital versions of many of our releases. Additionally, some of our physical releases will include immediate download access to digital versions of the record at the time of purchase.
The process of downloading these files isn't quite as streamlined as we'd like it to be so here a step-by-step guide:
Step 1: Buy Something
View your shopping cart and click the "Checkout" button.
Step 2: Provide Your Info at Checkout
Fill out the required fields on the checkout page. When you make a purchase in our shopping system, a customer account is automatically created for you. However, you have the option of specifiying a personalized user name and password at checkout:
File downloads require you to log into our system in order to download the protected files, and that is why we create a customer account for every purchase. The only data stored in your account is your e-mail address which we only use for order communications and never for marketing or mass mailings (we've got a separate registration for that).
Step 3: Complete Your Purchase
Continue through checkout and you will be redirected to PayPal to complete your order. If all goes well, PayPal will redirect you back to a "thank you" screen and you will be automatically logged into the system and ready to download your purchases. You will know you are logged in if you can see the "My Account" link in the upper right corner of the Web page:
If for some reason you are not automatically logged in, or wish to log in at a later time read the next section. Otherwise, you are ready to download your files and can skip to step 5.
Step 4: Order E-Mails and your Login Info
Upon completing your order, the system will send you two e-mails. The first will be your order invoice. This is invoice will also contain your login info if you didn't provide custom user info at checkout:
The second e-mail will contain a direct link to your downloadable files. Before clicking this link you should make sure you are logged into the site by following the instructions in your invoice e-mail otherwise you will get an "Access Denied" error.
Step 5: Downloading Files from "MY Account"
If you are logged in you can always access your files from the "My Account" page. Click the "My Account" link at the top of the site. Once on your "My Account" page click the "Files" tab or the "Click here to view your file downloads" link:
On the next page you will see a listing of all your purchased files:
Click the link to your file and your download will begin. You are allowed to download the same file a maximum of three times.
